ACTIVATIONS WITH JAGUAR BEDFORVIEW SET NEW PRECEDENT

Activations don’t only take up space in the hope of bringing in a bit of revenue for Landlords. They in fact permit shoppers to engage with a product when they have spare time and are in a spending frame of mind.
The consumer is encouraged to get closer to the brand and seek further information regarding the product without being pressured to make a purchase. Their curiosity and access to favourable information can ultimately lead to a desire to own the product and hence increase product sales – as has been the case for Jaguar Bedfordview.
Activations allow advertisers the opportunity to produce avant-garde displays that go a long way in building their brand and creating memorable experiences within Shopping Centres. This is what Property Media Managers, iMedia, have created for the breathtaking Jaguar.
iMedia recently created an innovative Activation that not only engages shoppers with the product, but powerfully promotes the product brand. The glass cube –situated at Johannesburg’s Bedford Centre - proudly displays a Jaguar in all its grandeur. Shoppers have the opportunity to view the vehicle from all angles in the illuminated cube at their leisure. The display has caused much hype and has become an impressive encounter for shoppers, enhancing the Jaguar Bedfordview brand.
Activations provide an impactful and fundamental form of mall communications and are an integral part of iMedia’s expertise.

Manda Hill unwrapped.
November 2010 – The Countdown Begins!
On completion Manda Hill shopping centre will be the enclosed, air conditioned and most innovative shopping, dining and entertainment indulgence in Lusaka!

With the inclusion of a second floor, shoppers will be able to take a ride on the escalator up to a world-class entertainment core comprising both Zambian and international favourites. The upper level will see the arrival of an exquisite Six Screen Cinema Complex with state-of-the-art sound and the latest international releases as well as a Media Store. For shopper’s convenience there will be a brand new Banking Court, dedicated to all your banking requirements.

With a choice of enticing fast food retailers, shoppers will be able to fuel up for their shopping experience. The retailers will comprise Manda Hill’s previous outlets as well as new franchises, Nandos and O’Galitos. Mugg and Bean will be entering the mall too. The open piazza area will be surrounded by both local and South African restaurants: Central Dublin will offer customers an authentic Irish experience, Spur arrives at Manda Hill and delectable Italian eatery, Ciao Baby makes its first appearance in the country.

With an expanded tenant mix and introduction of South African nationals like Foschini, Markhams, Fashion Express, Sterns and Sportscene; Truworths, Uzzi and Identity; Manda Hill will be increasing in size from 22 180 square meters to 41 391 square meters for a truly Zambian indulgence.

Most exciting on the retail side is the expansion of Manda Hill’s anchor tenants. Shoprite has already been extended by 1 000 square meters to 5 605 square meters and Game will also increase by 1 000 square meters. Other South African brands that will be installed at the centre include a free standing Mr Price Combo (which is already trading and now comprises both furniture and fashion) and OK Furniture. MTN and Pep Stores have been strikingly upgraded and are already open for trading! Botswana company, Homecorp Super Store arrives in Zambia with an impressive, free-standing 3 300m² outlet! Many of the franchises at the mall are owned and run by Zambian residents.

Access to the centre will be improved with the upgrade of the traffic management systems and widening of Manchinchi Road. Traffic lights at Great East Road and the Great East Road/Manchinchi intersection will be synchronised. A modern parking ramp will lead onto a parking deck (both firsts for Zambia) off Great East Road and an additional 800 parking bays will be provided, bringing the total number of parking bays to 1 500. New storm water and basic infrastructure systems have been installed to ensure that the centre will be able to operate at full capacity under all conditions.

The Manda Hill team would like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal customers and valued tenants for their continued support and patience during the redevelopment. With just six months to go, we are looking forward to providing you with regular updates culminating in a warm welcome and invitation to Indulge in Innovation.

Extreme Media Makeover

For the past three decades mall makeovers have meant replacing tattered carpeting and slapping on a coat of paint. Today centres compete to differentiate themselves to increase footfall and remain top-of-mind while providing value to retailers.

Research has shown that targeted communication and attractive presentation in malls create an experience for shoppers. In turn, this increases foot count, differentiates your centre from others and serves customers efficiently while operating more productively and profitably.

Mall media management company iMedia understands that for mall-walkers today, shopping isn’t just about grabbing items off a shelf. For consumers, visiting a mall is a social experience and form of entertainment in itself. They want to interact with an attractive brand. They want to experience the feel-good factor. That is why iMedia sets out to create an attractive personality for your mall.

An extreme Media Makeover by iMedia will infuse a fresh vibe into your mall, creating the right environment that will entice tenants and customers.

From creating your logo to delving into the psychology of the ideal colour for your mall’s look and feel to setting up advertising inventory and managing your mall’s media and communications concerns, iMedia knows how to make your mall stand out.

The platforms they provide are not only aesthetically pleasing but provide clients with invaluable research that is market-specific enabling advertisers and media buyers to accurately gauge the effectiveness of product and advertisement placement.

If you’re a mall maker looking to create an unmatchable shopping experience for shoppers and attract top retailers, iMedia’s Logistics, Digital, Design and Communications teams have what it takes to perform an extreme Media Makeover for your mall.
