Manda Hill Mall, Lusaka, Zambia

Manda Hill unwrapped.
November 2010 – The Countdown Begins!
On completion Manda Hill shopping centre will be the enclosed, air conditioned and most innovative shopping, dining and entertainment indulgence in Lusaka!

With the inclusion of a second floor, shoppers will be able to take a ride on the escalator up to a world-class entertainment core comprising both Zambian and international favourites. The upper level will see the arrival of an exquisite Six Screen Cinema Complex with state-of-the-art sound and the latest international releases as well as a Media Store. For shopper’s convenience there will be a brand new Banking Court, dedicated to all your banking requirements.

With a choice of enticing fast food retailers, shoppers will be able to fuel up for their shopping experience. The retailers will comprise Manda Hill’s previous outlets as well as new franchises, Nandos and O’Galitos. Mugg and Bean will be entering the mall too. The open piazza area will be surrounded by both local and South African restaurants: Central Dublin will offer customers an authentic Irish experience, Spur arrives at Manda Hill and delectable Italian eatery, Ciao Baby makes its first appearance in the country.

With an expanded tenant mix and introduction of South African nationals like Foschini, Markhams, Fashion Express, Sterns and Sportscene; Truworths, Uzzi and Identity; Manda Hill will be increasing in size from 22 180 square meters to 41 391 square meters for a truly Zambian indulgence.

Most exciting on the retail side is the expansion of Manda Hill’s anchor tenants. Shoprite has already been extended by 1 000 square meters to 5 605 square meters and Game will also increase by 1 000 square meters. Other South African brands that will be installed at the centre include a free standing Mr Price Combo (which is already trading and now comprises both furniture and fashion) and OK Furniture. MTN and Pep Stores have been strikingly upgraded and are already open for trading! Botswana company, Homecorp Super Store arrives in Zambia with an impressive, free-standing 3 300m² outlet! Many of the franchises at the mall are owned and run by Zambian residents.

Access to the centre will be improved with the upgrade of the traffic management systems and widening of Manchinchi Road. Traffic lights at Great East Road and the Great East Road/Manchinchi intersection will be synchronised. A modern parking ramp will lead onto a parking deck (both firsts for Zambia) off Great East Road and an additional 800 parking bays will be provided, bringing the total number of parking bays to 1 500. New storm water and basic infrastructure systems have been installed to ensure that the centre will be able to operate at full capacity under all conditions.

The Manda Hill team would like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal customers and valued tenants for their continued support and patience during the redevelopment. With just six months to go, we are looking forward to providing you with regular updates culminating in a warm welcome and invitation to Indulge in Innovation.
